Conferences

Larry is a frequent speaker at educational conferences, reading council meetings, and writing workshops. Although happy to customize a program for you, some of his more popular topics are listed below.

"Finding Your Inner Child" (Larry's most popular topic with audiences of writers)-- Larry provides a glimpse into the journey his path to writing took with this humorous look at the six genres of writing. (Writing Conference Keynote)

"The Geography of Biography" -- When Augustine Washington asked his son, George, if he had chopped down a cherry tree, George reportedly answered, "Father, I can't tell a lie. I did cut it with my hatchet." This story has been passed down from generation to generation as fact; yet, it is pure fiction. This session will offer tips to educators with an interest in publishing biography or in having their students write biography. (Educators' Conference)

"Primary Sources/Practical Strategies: Adding Flesh to the Bare Bones of Fact" -- This program fosters practical approaches to the new common core standard of using primary sources as part of instruction. Intended for teachers at the elementary- and middle-school levels, it is meant to help teachers take their students beyond the world of Google-research. (Educators' Conference or In-Service Workshop)
